My Silky Way© is Beatriz Castro's trademark, a project of handmade creations
in natural silk on different items (pictures, scarfs, tops, shawls). Recently, her designs
have spread to another non-handmade items such as bags, purses, mobile cases and mugs.
Beatriz Castro is a self-taught artist, born 35 years ago in Madrid (Spain).
Since she was a girl, she has been interested of Fine Arts, but firstly she headed to pencil
portrait and oil painting.
In order to head to graphic design, she completed her studies as a Computer Engineer at
Madrid Politytechnic University. Soon disappointed, she headed to several creative disciplines
such as furniture restoration, patchwork and faux vitraus, which finally take her to silk painting,
that fascinated her.
Due to the lack of knowledge of this art, she began a self-taught learning process around 2003,
acquiring a colourful and naïf-like own style, very far from her early realism.
After this previous learning, in the later years she took courses with the teacher Carmen Escolano,
who took her to batik and other techniques (antifusant, thickeners, watercolour) to complete her training.
At the moment, her works are concentrate towards different techniques over natural silk (pongé
or habotai): gutta sertí, batik and antifusant.
My Silky Way© is a trademark registered by Beatriz Castro.
Trademark law (17/2001, 7th december) sets that the owner has the exclusive right to use it
for trading.
